Miracles Do Happen!!

Gorgeous Grayson was born 18 June 2017 and spent his life at the shelter until he was offered a home and arrived in the UK in October 2018. Being a rescue dog he was unused to the noises in his new environment. Whilst being taken out on his collar and lead he heard a new sound that frightened him so much that he managed to slip his collar and run off scared. He went missing on the 22 November 2018. He was spotted 5 days later but it was impossible to catch him. The area he was lost in was vast open countryside which made it so difficult to track him or gain his trust to rescue him. Many people took the time to search for him and there were a few sightings of him over the weeks. A trap was set up but whilst he went into it to eat he didn’t enter fully to set the trap off. Prayers were sent up to Heaven asking God to bring him home and to send his angels in the meantime to protect him.  As the weather started to turn cold our thoughts turned to Grayson on his own for the first time in his life, hungry, cold and lost.  He was spotted before Christmas and hopes were high that he would be captured and returned to safety but he evaded all attempts to rescue him. As the weeks went by we wondered where Grayson was, how he was and whether we would ever see him again. Then at the beginning of February there was a possible sighting of him and a very grainy photo of a dog loose that could have been him. Hopes were raised again but no further updates were received. Then finally on Valentines day, the 14th February 2019 he was found alive in a farmers log shed. It was a miracle, Grayson alive after 12 weeks (84 days) lost in open countryside in unfamiliar surroundings.  Everyone who heard the news was overjoyed and some cried with sheer relief that his adventure was over and now finally he could begin to recover from his ordeal and settle into family life. Grayson has been checked by a vet, he is unharmed although very thin as the last photo shows.

Will You Be My Birthday Valentine?

On the 14th February 2017 a second litter of pups were born to Beatrice. One of them Henry was adopted as a pup. The other five dogs are having their second birthday today. The best present these beautiful hound mix dogs could have would be a forever loving home.

The valentine birthday boys and girls are:

Molly & Polly ~ Valentine sisters born 14 February 2017.  Both these sisters have a mottled grey, black and white coat that looks more silver from a distance. They are so lovely and are twins. They love playing with toys and are full of affection for both humans and other dogs. They adore ‘run’ time and releasing their energy. Both girls are a little timid.

Prince ~ meaning "Noble Character" born Valentines 14 February 2017. Prince is part human!! He loves to talk to you as he receives his cuddle, he loves affection and being stroked. He prefers human company. He will play with toys, but his preference will be to sit with you and enjoy your company. He really enjoys food, especially treats!

King ~ meaning "Sovereign Crown" born Valentines 14 February 2017. King is a cuddle monster! He keeps coming back for more and more. He will lean against you wanting both affection and company. He has a luscious, gleaming coat with one mottled white sock up and white sock down on his front paws! He gets on with his pack and enjoys playing with ropes, balls and loves his treats.

Henrietta ~ Valentines baby born Feb 14th 2017. Henrietta has a wonderfully loving nature she is absolutely adorable . Hens is an intelligent young female who would make a great companion in a loving home. Henrietta has a beautiful black shiny coat with brown flashes on her ears, sides of her neck and back of her legs. She has wonderful long ears and a stunning face. She is very loving, adores human company and loves being stroked. Her twin brother Henry has already found his forever home. She likes to follow you as you go about your work and watch what you are doing. She is more of a companion dog and would suit being part of a family.

If you are able to make their birthday wish come true by adopting any of them please email: compassion4greekpaws@gmail.com or send a message through our Facebook Page: m.me/CompassionForGreekPaws  Thank you 💙🏡

Rosa and Ben in the UK

*** ROSA *** is settling in the U.K. and is now ready for adoption. 💗 she is looking for a quiet, restful home full of love but would be better placed not with children who startle her. She is a small 2 year old, full of love, enjoys cuddles and is learning to play. She is a quiet, gentle young girl and enjoys watching the birds outside. She is house trained, enjoys her soft bed, eats well and walks as part of a pack. She is nervous and can be skittish with unfamiliar people and sounds that are out of her frame of reference. She is fully vaccinated, flea, tick, wormed, microchipped, neutered, has an up to date passport and health book. Rosa was born approximately Oct/Nov 2016.

***BEN*** Ben is ready for adoption in the U.K. He is the most sweet natured little chap you could ever want to meet! He is 2 years 10 months old but prefers a quiet life of walks and cuddles. He would be best placed in a quiet, relaxed home where he can just be in his soft bed, with his pipe and slippers! He is toilet trained, he is not a chewer, enjoys his food and eats very gently. He is soft, timid and submissive, always giving way to others. He is an unassuming little chap not wanting for much. He has enjoyed the company of others dogs ( up to 7 in the home) and by the video below you can see how he plays joyfully with his buddy Rosa. All his vaccinations, worm, tick, flea are up to date. He is neutered, microchipped and has both a passport and clean bill of health demonstrated in his health book. He is fearful of things outside of his frame of reference such as new sounds, the car, lots of people when out on a walk. He would need time and patience to become more relaxed when out and overcome this. We have already seen a marked improvement in his confidence in 2 weeks! Ben is a forever friend and will love you until the end. He has so much love to give and we would like him to find his forever companion who can bring out the best in him and let him blossom to his full potential. If you want a best friend for life, who will be next to you all day, you should adopt sweet little Ben!

Arthur, Archie and Alfie

Three very poorly pups came to us last night.

Driven in a closed boot of a car for an hour. The man said he had found them abandoned and had asked other rescues who directed him to us. I can't believe they were still alive after being closed in a boot at only 30 days old for an hour !

All three pups are poorly & could be suffering with neurological problems however they are very young so hard to tell at this point.

One can't walk/crawl and falls to the right side if moves, the second has lost an eye to infection & the third the stronger of the three is very anxious. All three have skin complaints.

Prognosis is not good but I will do all I can to help them, they have obviously suffered a great deal in just 30 DAYS of life.....

We have named them Arthur (the weakest one who can't walk/crawl properly), Alfie (the one with infected eye which has been lost) and Archie (the strongest pup).

UPDATE: Archie the stronger of the pups is feeding but is struggling to move around, Alfie the pup with the infection in his eye has unfortunately lost his eye, he is on medication. The third and weakest of the pups Arthur is not feeding well and is very poorly.

Please pray for these three brothers to live and be healed and restored so they can live long and have a healthy life and a forever loving home.

Blondie Update

Blondie has been very brave, Amanda is so proud of her. Blondie knew we were there to help and was a perfect patient showing no aggression at all, instead she relaxed.

Blondie has had the wounds cleaned and has a very special dressing applied. The dressing will stay on for 5 days, the 6th day she is booked into the clinic for our vets to take off the dressing & assess the wounds. Blondie is taking antibiotics twice daily and pain relief to help her feel more comfortable.

Every day dogs are in danger on the street even a beautifully natured, socialised dog like Blondie. Please help us keep Blondie off the street, she needs a loving, safe home where can finally relax and enjoy her favourite thing..being loved.

If you are able to help please either email: compassion4greekpaws@gmail.com or send a message via the Compassion For Greek Paws Facebook page (m.me/CompassionForGreekPaws).

Blondie

Blondie arrived in the village abandoned because she had prolapsed womb. This wasn't a reason to abandon her but they did anyway. Blondie soon gathered her hormones back together and was neutered when the time was right. There was no room at the shelter so as the village had already taken to her Amanda purchased a large kennel and she has lived quite happily knowing the people who love her and she learned quickly to stay away from those who are not dog friendly.

You would think that she would be safe.. all the village know her, she doesn't chase chickens, she doesn't bark at strangers, she doesn't frighten the children. All she does is wait for people to speak to her, she loves a cuddle and is always waiting for Amanda every evening after the shelter feed for her food and BLONDIE time.

Last night she didn't greet Amanda, she called and called.

Panic took over, we all know that every second a dog lives on the street here they are in danger. Amanda called again and something moved in the over grown grass next to 'her' space. Blondie tried to greet her as she always does but it was obvious she was struggling. Somehow Amanda picked up a 40 kilo dog and rushed off to the vet calling him on the way. Out of hours but they are always there for us in so many ways.

Blondie has been hit by a car, if you lived here you would/could believe an innocent dog could be hit intentionally. She is in pain, she is bruised but the most worrying part is her leg. The skin has been taken off so the vet couldn't stitch. The wound has been cleaned and will need dressing for a week with strong antibiotics twice a day.

The problem is Blondie lives on the street, and there is no place for her at the shelter, so Amanda can NOT protect the beautiful soul that she is. Her plight has been shared many times that she needs help, a foster, a family of her own but no-one has every even been slightly interested in helping her. Blondie is in DANGER every second she is on the streets. Please, please consider fostering or adopting her so she can be safe.

Blondie is a mountain dog/labrador mix around 2 years old. She has such a loving nature and is good with people and other dogs. She is a large, super cute, bundle of love.

If you are able to help please either email: compassion4greekpaws@gmail.com or send a message via the Compassion For Greek Paws Facebook page (m.me/CompassionForGreekPaws).

This photo was taken at the vets, we won't show the injury to her leg on the blog so as not to distress or upset anyone but it can be seen on the Compassion For Greek Paws Facebook group.

Sam and Buddy

Two new boys arrived at Compassion For Greek Paws a couple of days ago:

Sam ~ thought to be around 3 years old and the possible brother of sisters Bonita (adopted), Megan and Spot who were born March/April 2016. He has been used as a working dog and then abandoned. He arrived in the village around mid January 2019. He was timid in the beginning but he was fed daily and began to trust us running over tail wagging as soon as it was his dinner time. Due to three homed bitches being in season in the village he was attacked by a pack of working dogs. He is not an aggressive dog so surrendering has probably saved his life. He suffered open bites on his front leg and two huge lumps on his side where he has been bitten but not cut the skin.He Is 40 kilos. All he needs is a garden, a soft bed and the love of a family of his own. He is a quiet dog who needs a second chance.
Sam
Buddy ~ born approximately end of November 2018. he was rescued at the beginning of February 2019 and thought be around 10 weeks old. He was found screaming and trying to hide from larger dogs who were chasing him. He is very shaken by his ordeal and is underweight. It is thought he has been abandoned as there are no sightings of any siblings. He is adorable and showing a lovely calm nature. It appears that Buddy was born deaf.

The Beehive Pups

Amanda found an abandoned Bleu de Gascogne dog roaming around in her village at the end of July 2016. She had a litter hidden in a small cave that was right in the middle of about 25 Beehives. There was no way to know how many pups or how old there were. By mid August she was still unable to get anywhere near the mother as she was so frightened of people. Amanda started to build her confidence and would leave her and the pups food.

Two of the pups were stung numerous times by the bees, fortunately there were no allergic reactions. Amanda was reluctant to move the pups as their mother was a very good mum and was never far away. She kept her visits short so as not to upset their mother, the last thing she wanted was for to move the pups to another location out of fear in case she was unable to find them again. The vet said they were old enough to leave their mum. A few days later towards the end of August 2016 the decision was made to rescue the pups. The first two were males, Bobby and Charlie. The remaining four pups were rescued separately and named Sting (male), Luna, Dorris and Dotty. It was suggested to name their mother Beatrice or Bea for short due to the location she had chosen to give birth.

Sadly the ‘Beehive’ pups born approximately July 2016 are still at the shelter waiting for their forever homes.

Charlie He is a gentle soul, he leans in and loves to dance! He is full of expression and is intuitive with sensitivity

Charlie

Dorris She is very striking and an attractive dog that holds herself well. She is a little timid, but will engage and enjoy your companionship. She is playful and always enjoys the puppies in the pen nearby.

Dorris

Dotty ~ She is a little timid and sits in the background, but she will seek you out if she wants your attention. She is inquisitive, but prefers 1-1 time as she can get overwhelmed if there is too much going on. In a quiet home where she can settle and have more attention, we are sure she will thrive.

Dotty

Bobby He is a cuddle monster, loves humans and is full of expression. He will do anything for a treat and loves 1-1 times.

Bobby

Sting He loves to run and play with his siblings and when he’s alone he will seek human company. He is a little shy and will stay in the back ground allowing others to have attention first. In a quiet, loving home he will come out of his shell and be a loyal companion.

Sting
Luna She’s a little nervous with strangers, but not aggressive, she will just hide away at a distance while keeping her eye on the stranger. With time and loving attention she will be happy and settled in a forever home. She gets on very well with Zeke whom she shares a pen with and it would be ideal for them to re-homed together.

Black Beauties

Apparently there is such a thing as “black dog syndrome” where black dogs are overlooked in favour of lighter coloured dogs.  If a dog tugs at your heart then the colour of their fur is irrelevant isn’t it? There is a dog suitable for everyone if they happen to have black fur so be it. At Compassion For Greek Paws we currently have 14 black and dark brindle dogs looking for a forever home.  Lets get past the “black dog syndrome” and consider fostering or adopting one of our black beauties.

Meet our beautiful beloved black and dark brindle dogs ready and waiting to be adopted into a loving home:

Sisters ~ Beauty and Serene
Beauty ~ born approximately Feb/Mar 2017. Beauty by name beautiful by nature. Weighing in at 31 kilos she is slightly lighter than her sister, Serene, however her fantastic winter coat makes her look heavier and rather lion like. Beauty is looking for her forever home, a loving big girl who waits for a cuddle. Beauty will make a wonderful companion in a loving home. Beauty was found starving as a very young pup at the edge of the village, but she soon grew into the beauty she is today. Although a big girl, she’s a little sweetheart and will sit calmly when being paid attention – she adores cuddle time! Beauty doesn’t let anyone pass her pen without saying hello, she will put her leg out so you can shake hands.

Beaury

Serene ~ born approximately Feb/Mar 2017. Serene is a big heavy built girl who just loves a belly rub, weighing in at 33 kilos she still likes to sit on my knee! Once the excitement to see you is over she is quite happy to relax and fall off to sleep while having a cuddle. Serene was found starving as a pup and will guard her food, she is sometimes upset by the dogs either side of her pen, but once out she is calm and avoids other dogs. Serene is looking for her forever home but as she is still an exitable big pup she will not be homed with young children or other dogs. Sometimes misunderstood, Serene is a beautiful girl who needs a firm, but loving owner, somewhere she can relax and blossom into the wonderful, loving companion I know she can be. Beautiful Serene has been neutered, and she although timid of the car to begin with was on her best behaviour and all went well.

Serene

Brother and Sister - Ezra and Laura
Ezra ~ meaning "help". Born approximately Nov/Dec 2017. Tall, lean and super cute Ezra has been trained by a professional trainer after being found tied to a tree. His trainer was very very pleased with Ezra's progress an A plus student! Ezra is not keen on cats and will chase them, he will not be homed with cats or chickens but he loves children and is very gentle with them & great with other dogs.

Laura ~ born approximately Nov/Dec 2017. She is sweet, very pretty, loving and intelligent. A little shy at times she is just adorable and very funny. Laura is very majestic and fascinating to watch, pretty as a picture.

Janie needs a loving home.

Janie

Sam

Bob ~ born approximately Feb 2018. Bob is a large pup who was given to an older lady when he was 6 weeks and has grown too big for her to manage. She walks with a stick and can't care for him & her family are worried that shadow could accidentally bump into her. The family want Bob to be re homed quickly. We have cared, fed, vaccinated (will also neuter) Bob from the very beginning so his health book is up to date. Bob is a gentle giant & adores attention and cuddles, he would sit on your lap if he could.
