Adopting an extra large pup like Panda

Adopting an x large puppy is interesting but very rewarding. Panda has been with us for just over a month...and we feel that it's not necessarily a very large garden that is a must but lots of exercise. If you are an active family ...then perfect. He adores the other dogs, loves people and is so funny to be around. He interacts all the time. Don't be put off by their size...it's amazing to watch them grow . He can be clumsy, stubborn but just so loveable.

Super Sweet Blondie

Big softie Blondie is looking for her forever home after being abandoned to the street.

Blondie needs space, she loves to be outside so a secure garden is necessary. Blondie will happily greet strangers so she is at risk of being stolen if not supervised.

Blondie sleeps indoors during the night only preferring to be outside during the day however she is VERY happy to sit quietly in the house during the day if she has company. Blondie is very loving and will sit where ever you sit and relax, she loves humans & cuddle time.

Blondie can be a bit bossy with other dogs but not aggressive, she likes her space to relax.

Blondie is happy with the cats hanging around but will chase them off eventually in a playful way, then they come back to say hi.

Blondie is great with children despite her size she is very gentle.

Blondie is neutered, her health book is up to date and her bloods are clear. Blondie is ready for adoption now.

New Boy Bailey

Meet our new baby boy, left at the village church Monday 22 April 2019. He is in good condition, he is happy and sociable. He could be a pointer mix but not 100%.

Star-Socks ~ born 18 June 2017. He is most definitely a star with his stunning looks, sporting little white socks, a white flash on his nose and tiny white spots on the back of his neck. Star socks is gentle and very adorable! He is 30 kilos and although a big dog he is of athletic build. Very loving but will need some training as he loves to jump up (work in progress). Four of his siblings (Quinn, Grayson, Gertie & Dora) have already been adopted. His remaining siblings are brothers Holmes and Watson and sister Kooka who are also looking for their forever home.

Puppy Tails

At Compassion For Greek Paws we currently have 23 pups all looking for their forever loving homes.

Sisters Brooke, Cleopatra and Mina were the first to arrive last year. They were found in a corn field that would have been harvested in a few days. They were taken to the shelter at the beginning of October 2018 by someone who found them and knew where they would be safe. They were born around July/Aug 2018. Mina was adopted in January and is settled in her new home. Her sisters are still hoping someone will fall in love with them too.  Cleopatra has a very shy timid nature and follows her sister. She needs to be homed with either her sister Brooke or in a home where there is already a mature adult dog who can give her confidence.  

Next to arrive were the five Greek Shepherds that were found literally in the middle of the road that Amanda and Joanna were travelling along. God was looking out for them knowing that Amanda would care for them at the shelter. They were born approximately September 2018 four brothers Patch, Duke, Vasili, Noel and sister Luz. Luz acted as a mother to her brothers keeping them warm and alive. Noel and Luz were adopted in March 2019 and are settling in well with their new families. Greek Shepherds grow to become large dogs.

Sarah Jane one of the farm dogs gave birth to a large litter of pups on the 24 December 2018. Six of them survived, three boys, Ned, Nathan, Neil and three girls, Sally, Sadie and Sian. Amanda was able to find homes for Ned, Sian and Sadie. Their siblings are still waiting for homes.

Esmae (born at the beginning of October 2018) was found at the beginning of January 2019 at the side of the road near a cemetery in the snow by Amanda as she was driving past. She has been for training and graduated with an A+ she is expected to be a big dog when fully grown.

A little 10 week old pup was found at the beginning of February 2019 screaming and trying to hide from larger dogs who were chasing him. He was rescued and taken to Amanda who named him Buddy. She soon discovered that he was deaf. He was born approximately at the end of November 2018. He will be going into foster in the UK shortly.

 Two little 6 week old pups were left outside the shelter in February 2019. They were born approximately at the end of December 2018. They were given the names Jessey (female) and Jamie (male).

Three desparately ill little brothers who were approximately 30 days old were taken to the shelter on the 11 February 2019. They were named Alfie, Archie and Arthur. Despite Amanda doing all she could Arthur faded away and died. Alfie came with an infection in his eye and once the infection cleared there was no eye there to save. Archie had problems with his hips which caused him difficulty in walking, he has since improved immensely. They were born about the 12 January 2019 and the remaining pups, Alfie and Archie are very close and it would be amazing to see them re-homed together.

March saw a new litter of six pups dumped. They were rescued and a new pen was built and paid for to accommodate the extra arrivals. They were born approximately February 2019. They were named Aaron, Amy, Lyndi, Lottie, Kiera and Katie. Aaron wants all the toys, he is the shy one but not frightened. He will join the others for a cuddle at run time now but he stayed away in the beginning, his confidence is growing. Aaron is the (big brother) his sisters are all slightly smaller. Amy and Lyndi stick together, very happy pups, adore cuddles but will run off and play. Lottie is very much it’s all about her, first at the gate, first to push up front for a cuddle and is very happy being carried around in your arms. Kiera and Katie are more in the background they get pushed out of the way but once it’s their turn for cuddles they don’t move then follow Amanda all around, loyal and beautiful. Kiera has a slighty longer coat.

 
 When Amanda went to the shelter on the 10th April she found Billi (female) and Benji (male) waiting for her outside the shelter gate. They were born approximately February 2019 and they are Kokoni's which is a small Greek breed. They currently have people interested in them and their applications are being processed.

On the 22 April 2019, Bailey a pointer cross pup was left outside the church. Amanda followed her heart picked him up and took him to the shelter.

So now the shelter has 73 dogs of whom 23 are pups. The shelter is full to capacity and really needs to find good homes for these precious pups before they end up growing up at the shelter. Shelter life is never ideal for any dog but is better than life on the streets. Finding a forever loving home for these beautiful pups is always the aim of the shelter.
