Pebble - Please Prayer for her.

Pebble

This isn't news you want to hear and I am reluctant to put you through more heartache however little Pebble needs your love, best wishes & prayers tonight.

Although pebble perked up slightly yesterday and did eat and drink a small amount alone today she struggled to walk and had to be hand fed.

Our wonderful vet came in this evening and put her on a second drip, she continues her antibiotics and anti sickness as before.

We are stumped to the reason why all three siblings have not responded to medication.

Had they eaten something toxic, why only one had seizures, why did Pebble perk up to have a sudden relapse, is it a birth defect, is it generic. We honestly don't know.

I have never experienced this before, such sadness. We are trying all we can but loosing such innocent souls is heartbreaking.

Pebble is fighting for her life tonight, she is aware when I am around and has had cuddles which she responded to, tonight she is cosy, safe and knows she is loved.

Rescue is never easy we know that but these 3 tiny girls deserved much more than this.

Our dear puppy Angel

She passed over to heaven this morning and is now safe and free from pain. She fought long and hard to survive but her body could not hold on any longer. We mourn with Amanda this devasting loss of a beautiful life. Please hold her two sisters in your prayers as they continue to fight for their life and for strength and comfort for our dear Amanda who is being everything she can be for them right now. Thank you

Sad news & update on latest arrivals

There is no easy way to write this post.

We lost our little Mask/Angel this morning at 10.10.

She couldn't stand but took her meds then faded away. Lianta & I were both with her. She is now at rest and away from the stress and pain her short life gave her.

I then took the other two babies back to the clinic on an emergency appointment where they were both put on a drip. Lianta buried our little Angel next to Neesh.

Little Ginger named by Lianta (thank you Lea for being wonderful today) has had seizures all evening, her breathing is very shallow, fading. Tonight she is wrapped up and is as comfortable as possible.

The smaller white pup who we also believe is deaf has shown improvement this evening, she took her drip out all by herself, she has eaten alone and drank a little water. She is not out of the woods yet but she is fighting.

The pups are isolated which has proven difficult as we are more than full.

The second pup has shown symptoms of Distemper, her seizures lasting for long periods of time. As you will know this is very contagious so every precaution has been put in place to keep the other dogs safe. All our dogs are vaccinated for distemper as standard however we can not risk their well-being.
We have protective shoe covers when dealing with ALL the pups and change our clothes after meds and clean up.

The symptoms resemble Distemper however they also resemble toxins in their bodies, something they ate maybe. At this point we can not be 100% sure why the pups have deteriorated so quickly.

So sorry to bring you such sad news

Amanda x

Friday 26 June 2020

Ok it's official June is dump your puppy month!

Another three pups have been found thin and exhausted near to the shelter. It is thought that they are the siblings of Bonnie and Percy who were found on the 8th June 2020. These poor puppies were most likely dumped at the same time as Bonnie and Percy and have therefore struggled to survive on their own for a further 18 days after their sister and brother were rescued. Thank goodness they have been found and rescued in time to be saved. How much longer would they have lasted if they hadn't been discovered today?

These additional three puppies has taken the tally up to 24 in two months! 14 of these pups are currently reserved or reserved pending home checks thanks to the hard work of our volunteer admins and home checkers.

Please share Compassion For Greek Paws with your friends and family. Help us to find homes for the remaining pups so they don't have to grow up in the shelter. Thank you.

Petal & Felicity

We have named this little character and all her wonderful expressions PETAL.

Petal

Petal was the first of the pups to show she really wanted human company. Today 22nd June 2020 Petal was taken to share a small pen with her sister Felicity. Felicity was found half the size of her siblings and exhausted. She spent a couple of days rest, eating and sleeping then we reintroduced the sisters. They were so happy to see each other and lovely Petal and Felicity spent the afternoon playing and cuddling.

The Magnificent Seven!!

More puppies !!!!! We now have 7 mountain pups arrived.

The 7 mountain pups after a week of coaxing, bringing their food closer and closer to the shelter are all in one place. We have secured an area OUTSIDE the shelter as we have absolutely no space inside. The pups are secure but not safe, they are vulnerable to predators should Raina, Aslan & Sarah-Jane wonder off (they do often)

As you can see the fencing is only 1 metre high, this is not high enough to stop Foxes and or Wolves penetrating the pen. The countryside & mountains that surround us are full of wild animals. This is the reason our shelter is made secure. The pups are not inside, to date we have payed 180 euros to the workman to secure the fencing and make a gate, we need another 20 metres of fencing to add and a part roof for shelter from the sun/rain.

The mountain pups who are all phobic but progressing well, they will eat from my hands now, they will relax and sleep near me after food, they are playing and sharing their toys, still a few grumbles around at food time but being fed 3 times a day they are happy and full with no fighting over food. We hope to start vaccinations this week but they are still not ready to be handled so we will see how we get on, work in progress.
