Reshuffle for Leon

A bit of a reshuffle and LEON is here, off the street, out of Kennels and with us at the shelter,

We closed off part of Dominos pen making an extra space. Here comes the shuffle. Hickory and vixen have now moved into Serene's pen, Serene has moved into the new section and very quiet Leon has moved into Hickory & Vixens pen where he can see outside, only has a pen on one side of him and it's quiet so he can settle with no distractions.

Serene is more active with Dotty & Doris in the next pen, great exercise for Serene as she runs up and down chasing them. With a little exercise and her new diet we believe it's a step in the right direction for her to loose the weigh she had gained. She has lost a little already so we are very proud of her, she will however get in the food barrel given the chance but isn't frantic.

Hickory & Vixen have a little more space and seem very happy with their new pen, both ate very well this evening and vixen found Serene's Antler !!

Lianta made sure they all have their blankets with them making their new space more familiar and relaxing.

Leon is very quiet but has eaten well & is wagging his tail, he will go for more tests once he has settled and comfortable with us.

Beatrice & her boys Hector and Button

Happy Autumn Sunday wishes from Old Gal BEATRICE, HECTOR & BUTTON

Beatrice I think most of you know well, the mountain hunting dog who due to her timidness took almost 2 years to coax into our care. The longest rescue in our history so far!! Bea, was very frightened of humans and stayed well away from the village preferring to live in the mountains where she gave birth. Beatrice was a perfect mum, keeping her pups protected and fed well from wild game she caught and taking food to them that we left for her. The Beehive pups & the valentine pups. (Button & Hector still live with their mum in the same pen)

Beatrice, Hector & Button were desperate for an upgrade and new brick kennel to keep them warm this winter. We have deep cleaned their whole pen, fixed the broken fencing, built them a new kennel and yesterday we started putting in sand and put on a wooden roof that we will cover with water and windproof roofing material. The wood for the roof we recycled from an old wooden kennel which was no longer safe.

Button & Hector had great fun helping us spread the sand around, such wonderful happy boys. Beatrice watched elegantly from a distance popping over for a cuddle now and then to check we were doing our jobs correctly !!

Hickory

HICKORY as always is a love bug, he loved his trip out, didn't flinch when he had his bloods taken, sat perfectly in the clinic and made friends with a dog from another rescue. Hickory's bloods are clear, his health check went without issue.

HICKORY HAS SO MUCH LOVE TO GIVE, WE ARE DESPERATE TO FIND THIS BEAUTIFUL LOVE BUG THE HOME HE DESERVES. HICKORY IS READY FOR ADOPTION NOW

Hickory is approximately 3-4 years old so born 2016-2017.

Alitis needs a home ASAP

ALITIS in training, safe off the street for now !!

Alitis is an adorable young male around 18 months old, he was living on the street in a hostile environment after neighbours began throwing stones, taking his food and throwing his water and food bowls away. Next step was poison!

We had to move fast, the shelter was full so Alitis went to the training school kennels. Alitis is very used to people and quickly became bored, after discussing with the trainer we decided the best option was to give Alitis something to do, something to focus on. He started on a basic training course, is doing pretty well and defiantly back to the happy boy he was when we first met !!

ALITIS is ready for adoption, he is happy, healthy, stunning, loves cuddles & attention. He is also happy to sit quietly after his meals with a toy or chew treat.

Around 25 kilos, vaccinated and neuter date is 16th October.

Alitis will finish his training the end of October, he doesnt have anywhere to go for the winter.. The shelter is STILL more than FULL. Can you offer Alitis the loving home he needs, can you help us keep Alitis off the street this winter? The streets are dangerous for such a trusting boy and the winter up here in the mountains is very harsh when temperatures drop dramatically. We see -10 as the norm and way down to -21, not forgetting the wind chill off the mountains!

Felicia

Felicia ~ born approximately beg of July 2019. Found beg of Dec 2019. Currently residing in the U.K.

Felicia is a complete cuddle bug, and definitely doesn't realise she's a large dog as she will still try to sit on your lap! She is wonderful with other dogs and people, although can be a bit wary with men (but not aggressive) which is common with rescue dogs.

Like many dogs, loud noises also startle her so desensitisation to these noises should be implemented (we can help with this!)

Felicia has been said to be a quiet dog that rarely barks, however loves to play fetch and tug of war with her humans! She is a softie and very gentle with treats.

Felicia is a clever dog, and picks up things quickly. However, due to her past and being young, she will need to be trained in a kind and positive way, for example with her recall.

In order for her to feel more secure in her home, it would be preferable for her to be homed with at least one other friendly resident dog to show her the ropes and reassure her that she is safe and loved.

Felicia was previously homed with a cat and was great, so cats are fine. Applicants with children over 12 are welcome to apply.

Felicia really is an incredible dog with so much love to give. Please contact the shelter for more information if you think you could provide this beautiful girls with her forever home
