Supporting Compassion For Greek Paws

Would You Consider Becoming A Supporter Of Compassion For Greek Paws?

In Greece there are many stray dogs who are left to defend for themselves. They often have objects thrown at them, poison left for them to ingest as food or they are shot at. The dogs are not neutered resulting in multiple litters. Dogs that have been hit by a vehicle are left by the roadside in pain, unable to walk and in desperate need of medical attention.
Amanda Maguire Deligianni had a deep desire to see change in her local community and out of that desire Compassion For Greek Paws was birthed in her heart. She decided to take action and become a rescuer and safe haven for the many abandoned stray dogs and puppies she saw in her village. She found a piece of land in 2015 and began to build a shelter. The shelter has been running for over four years now and has continually grown. Amanda is dedicated to the dogs in her care, it has become her vocation to care for them and do all she can to see them find new homes. She is passionate, caring and hard working devoting her life for more than four years to changing the lives of the dogs she loves. Each dog is given a name, an identity because they are valuable and dearly loved. She goes to the shelter twice a day spending four hours each time seeing to the dogs that have come to rely on her. She also makes regular 1 hour round trips to the vets to ensure each dog is vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and have their health books and passports up to date and are fit and healthy. Her desire to help the defenceless dogs has become her life’s work. Compassion For Greek Paws is a non profit organisation that relies solely on donations and the support and help of volunteers. Whilst the shelter would be considered small, being “mum” to 70-80+ shelter dogs & puppies, as well as farm dogs and cats is no small feat.
Supporting a dog shelter doesn’t necessarily mean making a financial contribution. There are many ways to offer support. Much prayer is needed for these dogs and puppies to receive new homes, for the dogs to recover from their long journey, adjust and settle into their new families, for the finances to be available, for the health of the dogs when they are unwell, extra resources and help, for favour and blessings, for the culture to change and of course for Amanda. For those who are unable to adopt, fostering is an option. Home checkers are needed in many areas to assess the suitability of prospective owners and their home environment. Making people aware of the shelter, informing people of the website (www.compassionforgreekpaws.com) blog (https://compassionforgreekpaws.blogspot.com/) Instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/compassionforgreekpaws1/?hl=en), YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQZnt2loGiVrcptk67tqYCQ) and Facebook page (@CompassionForGreekPaws) where the available dogs each have a profile/photo album. Joining the Compassion For Greek Paws Facebook group, sharing posts and offering encouragement. Donating unwanted or unused dog toys. Donating flea, tick and mosquito meds which are desperately needed throughout the hot summer months. Visiting the shelter and offering assistance. Adopting a beautiful loving dog offering them a wonderful new life.
