Adorable Alfie!

Alfie came to the shelter as a tiny pup with his two brothers, all three were in terrible condition. I didn't know if they would survive the night.

THEY DID, but a few days later we lost one brother (Arthur) who had a deformity, of the skull. He was loved very much and slept on my shoulder after feed and under the radiator when I wasn't around. The little fella eventually gave up and we had to say a very sad goodbye.

Brother number 2 Archie struggled to walk and still keeps his head very low but he is strong, beautiful & adorable, he still loves to rest his head on my shoulder.

Back to Alfie, yes I know he shouldn't jump up but he is very gentle, he balances then places his paws on my shoulders and only ever just the once as he is let out of his pen for feed/clean/cuddle and run time. Then he goes off to have a run round.

Alfie like his brothers had problems, he had a severely infected eye. When we had the infection under control it became apparent there was no eye to save. Alfie had surgery to close the eye and runs and plays like any other dog,

Alfie is a big boy yet gentle and loving, he needs a home. A home where he will be loved and adored 💖

Alfie was born February 2019.

If you are interested in adopting this special boy please get in touch with us, thank you.

Sensory Shelter!!

We are making the shelter sensory, we are very exited about this as it will eventually help the dogs when they are homed. work in progress.

1, We are painting the barrels and play tyres so the dogs have visual stimulants.

2, We are wearing hats of all kinds after two of our long term residents were worried about my black cap!

3, We are making steps & a ramp (work in progress) for all 3 runs & will paint them. Some of the shelter dogs will not walk up the steps at the vet/clinic.

4, We will make a half open door way, static and stable so they can run through. Some dogs have never seen solid doors.

5, We have a large plastic barrel (half of a Barrel) donated by the work man. We will dig and place the barrel in the ground for water play. We have quite a few water babies plus it will be a way to cool down through the summer. The work man will keep his eyes open for another large plastic barrel for us.

6, Aristo (hubby) will bring us two battery power radios. We used to have a radio there but we have grown now so we need at least 2. Soothing music will be played when we have storms, fireworks etc.

7, Motion solar lights will be put up as the ones we have now have finally given in to the weather.

8, We HOPE to use a fenced, secure piece of land IN the village for lead walking and meet and greet the villagers. I have found the spot just need to persuade the owner to let us use the space. (fingers crossed for this one!)

PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU HAVE OTHER IDEAS FOR US TO PUT INTO PLACE

Shelter Update

Hello everyone, to our wonderful supporters and fab admins, those behind the scenes working tirelessly to promote our dogs who are ready for adoption and those privately raising funds to keep the shelter running.

At this moment we are struggling more than ever, funding has dropped considerably since the outbreak of the pandemic.

We are in debt in every corner from Kennels in the UK to food and have NO flea and tick treatments to guard our dogs from the very nasty mosquitos, sand flies and fleas. The most dangerous time for us with Cattle and Sheep/Goats passing the shelter many times a day.

WE DESPERATLY NEED YOUR HELP.

We know it is a difficult time for many people however if you have a few pounds you can spare PLEASE every small amount will add up and help us care, comfort, feed & protect the innocent animals in our care.

VET BILL/ HEALTH UPDATE.

Our vet bill is rising again and this is a daily concern.

Allergies & ear infections due to the farms cutting crops, spraying the fields and the churning up of the land with ploughs have left us with 5 babies needing treatment for ears and 9 dogs needing natural drops for sore eyes.

ANNIE, has leish and although she looks 100% better, is happy and playful her results after her first therapy were NOT what we had expected. Her levels have NOT gone down. We have now started a new therapy the syrup alone costs us 110 Euros per bottle. We are on the second bottle now.

DOMINO, has been to the clinic for a check up and blood, his bloods are clear but he has an open lump on his ankle that wont heal, he has therapy for now but will need to go back in a month for further testing.

KORITSI, has had problems with her front right leg for a while, she will go to the clinic for X-rays next week as nothing we have tried so far has helped her.

COCOA & MADISON both have heart worm, they were diagnosed when they came in, they are on a monthly pill to keep new eggs from hatching. We have signed for their treatment however there is a shortage of this medication so we wait for delivery.

PUPPIES, all the puppies have started their vaccinations, they are all microchipped and are well. Puppies always drain resources. Yes they are bundles of love & we adore them but they also cost a fortune keeping them safe & healthy.

FOUR of our pups are in Kennels at the training school we use. (We have absolutely no room at the shelter). The pups are costing the shelter 20 Euros a day. We owe 400 Euros and counting.. Thank you Sarah F who very kindly paid their first week & Gillian C who has just donated and covered another day for them.💞

As you can see we need help, IF you are in a position to help we would really appreciate it, the shelter and all the animals in our care CAN NOT survive without you.

THANK YOU FOR READING &  FOR YOUR COMPASSION, love as always Amanda, Lianta & all our PAWS xx

Vixen

Vixen or Vixi ~ born approximately November 2018 (had her first season August 2019).  Talking Vixie is a special little lady, she was very timid when we picked her up but that is all behind her now. After being shouted at, had stones thrown at her and hunted to be killed who wouldn't be timid !? Vixen stole a chicken in order to survive, this act of survival put the death sentence on her head by locals. Now she is safe and learning to trust again 💗🌟💗

In just a short time we have seen huge changes, she is vocal, she tells me it's cuddle time! Vixen has decided that cuddles are great and I am sure she would just love to be a lap dog 😄 Watch this space Vixen is learning to love and trust again & will be a super cuddle bug in no time.

If you are interested in adopting Vixen please get in touch with us thank you.

Alfie

Alfie ~ name meaning wise counsel. Alfie and his brothers Arthur and Archie were taken to the shelter at around 30 days old on the 11 February 2019. Their estimated date of birth is the 12 January 2019. All three boys arrived very poorly and unfortunately little Arthur died a few days later.

Alfie had an infection in his eye and was put on medication. The cause of the eye infection was due to his bottom eye lashes being inverted. It is believed that he was actually born with no eye although he had eye lids, the infection was caused by inverted eye lashes. He has since had minor surgery to close the eye socket.

Alfie is very loving, as he was bottle fed loves being close. Alfie needs a loving home as he adores people and contact. Shelter life really isn't for him.

If you are interested in adopting Alfie please contact us thank you.
