My Friend

My friend has gone ahead of me
And I am finding it so hard to see
Through the tears that keep falling
I try but I cannot stop bawling

Each time she comes to mind
I well up and find
I miss her so much
And cannot get in touch

Like days of old
When we would hold
Conversations on line
Time after time

Cannot accept she is not there
Life is just not fair
I want her back
Leader of the pack

To see her face again
And not be in this pain
To hear her sound
To know that she was still around

How I wish I could turn back time.

A Note of Thanks

'MANDY'S LEGACY'

I would like to take this opportunity to thank

Γιώργος Σέγκας
from White Ghost training school and

Paula Kangasmaa
from ARGOS- Animal Rescue Greece (Finland) for their support at this crucial time.

I spoke with George on Saturday at White Ghost Training School to arrange when to pick up Alitis and bring him home from the kennels and took the opportunity to ask him how much we owe so we can  settle up with him. He has generously wavered his remaining fees.

Paula was the first person to contact me on Thursday and ask me what we needed right now..... My answer was food, I only had four bags of food left! She immediately sent funds to Vasili our vet to cover for food. Thank you also to Kelly Stefanidou and her husband Sakis who brought them to the shelter this morning along with meds I had asked for.

I thank them and all of you who are by our side to try and honour Mandys memory and helping me look after the 🐾🐾

Together we can do this and make Mandy proud who is watching over us and guiding me in my every step

Thanks from Lianta, the C4GP team and all the 🐾🐾🐾🐾 ❤ ❤

FITTING GOODBYE TO OUR GIRL

Amanda’s husband Aristo is not on social media so today asked us to send a message for him

He is so grateful and overwhelmed with all the wonderful, caring tributes that have been sent for his darling wife Amanda. He thanks you all and is so touched by your kindness.
She unfortunately suffered a brain aneurism.

Her final send off would have warmed her heart completely. Aristo knew the only placed she would want to be was the shelter. So he took their mum up to them and allowed her and her babies to say goodbye one last time. They knew.

He then took her to her dogs at home where Maya could be with her mum and outside as always, her loyal best friend Koritsi Mou with the cats were waiting for her.
They knew.

She looked so peaceful with a smile on her face and Aristo put beautiful flowers around her head. Lianta sneaked in some chocolate and if we could of found a tin of Heinz tomato soup it would have been complete.

Aristo has laid his girl to rest, she is at peace. He gave her the opportunity to say farewell to her most precious babies and them her. She wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

Farewell our girl, your light shines on and we will do everything to keep your legacy going and to grow in the way you planned.
Love you forever, sleep tight xxxx 💙🇬🇷🐾

Dearest Beloved Amanda

Amazing, adorable Amanda Jane has rescued her last dog. It is with a very heavy broken heart and the deepest of sorrow that we break the news to you of our beautiful Amanda’s passing yesterday. We are completely devastated and just can not believe what has happened. Our deepest, heart felt condolences go out to her husband, family and friends many of whom are part of the Compassion For Greek Paws community.

It has been our total privilege to know and share life with such a beautiful, loving, courageous compassionate person who dedicated her whole life to rescuing the stray dogs no one else cared for. She has been such an inspiration to so many people and we honour her for all her hard work and dedication to make a difference to the place where she lived.

Amanda is ‘Compassion For Greek Paws’ and we don’t know how we will continue without her. Our hearts desire is to keep the shelter going until we can home the very last dog. Every single dog that is part of Compassion For Greek Paws has been deeply loved by a very special woman and we know her wish would be for them to continue to receive the love and care that she gave them.
Amanda, we love you so very much, we will never forget you ever, we are so blessed to have known you and called you our friend.

Goodnight darling girl Xxxx
Sarah, Claire, Lianta and all the C4GP team and all of your precious paws 💙🇬🇷🐾

Alitis

Street dog Alitis has joined Compassion For Greek Paws. His friend Jack has already been reserved. He was born approx April 2019. He was found as a young male dog living on the streets, he is now in basic training in kennels as the shelter has no room. Alitis is very friendly, was great with the other street dogs and cats plus a tiny kitten. When Alitis finishes his training (report is great, he is smart and likes to learn) he is again homeless as the shelter is more than full. We need a foster or wonderful, loving forever home for this sweet, funny boy.

Ready for adoption end of Oct 2020.

If you are interested in adopting Alitis please contact the shelter, thank you.
