Christie - Transformed from Rescue Dog to Adopted Dog

Christie was rescued by Amanda on the 29 June 2019 and thought to have been around 2 years old. She was found very thin and tired next to the village church building. She looks like a Beagle/Pointer with a heart shaped marking on her head.

Christie - when found
Christie has a number tattooed in her ear so she may have been a farm dog but because of her soft, gentle nature wasn't good enough and 'thrown off ' the farm.  It is unknown how long she had been wondering and starving to death before Amanda found her. It is possible that Christie may have had pups at some point but we will never know for sure. If she hears puppies crying or making noises she is on alert, searching for where the noise is coming from.

This is how her adopted family describes Christie:

She was scared of the broom when she first came here. Christie is very gentle, loyal and very funny. Facial expressions and responses so very funny! Always searching for food, drives us mad!  We adopted her just before lockdown, after which we had to be vigilant because Christie loves nothing more than a toilet roll or box of tissues!!!! Oh my, was she in trouble! She has chewed several pairs of scissors, cuddly toys, hot water bottle covers, bedroom rug. She's a chew monster! She is scared of our 2 guinea pigs, one has bitten her on the nose, both guinea pigs have bitten her gorgeous ears.  She is a character, lovely gentle disposition one minute, mad as a hatter the next. We love her very much. And we love that we have given her a forever home.

I can tell Christie trusts and loves us now. Its taken a few months, I can see the confusion leaving her and replaced with trust.
We get waggy tails when we get home, and she paws at us for ages after!! She runs towards me and bypasses the rest of the family.
Christie moves herself into her harness when getting ready for walks! She knows what her lead is and now gets very excited.
Christie doesn't sleep in her bed in the evenings now, she lies on the settee next to us and takes up most of the room!!
She knows when I'm upset and follows me around, she loves me!
She knows how to play now, tennis balls are her favourite.
Christie has had her first holiday in Cornwall so she has happy new memories, as do we.
Christie has a place she can call home.
Christie's tail wags.
Christie is no longer a starved skeleton clinging on to life.
Christie knows she is loved, so much.
Christie knows all humans aren't the same anymore, some are kind and invite her into their pack.
Christie is here to stay.
Christie is 💘
