The Big Fix

NEWS Shelter update, THE BIG FIX 🥳

With temperatures staying more or less above freezing, just the odd night falling to -2 to -5 we have started the BIG FIX IT after the worst of the freezing weather.The dogs also had a great time helping & enjoyed the extra time in the run !!

Huge thank you to Hubby who gave us 100 euros for maintenance, filled the shelter van up with petrol and some bags of food.👏👏

We picked up some cement, gravel, fencing & wire on Saturday then spent Sunday 'fixing'. 😁
We hope to get all the FIXING done this coming week, if the weather permits we will then start the second leg of THE ROOF GOING UP !!!!!!!!!!

ANOTHER HUGE THANK YOU TO FRIENDS OF THE STRAY OF GREECE & THEIR LOYAL SUPPORTERS WHO ARE CHANGING THE LIVES OF THE STREET AND SHELTER DOGS IN GREECE. FRIENDS OF THE STRAYS OF GREECE HAVE DONATED 5000 EUROS TO KEEP THE SHELTER DOGS PROTECTED FROM THE EXTREME WEATHER THE DOGS DEAL WITH YEAR IN YEAR OUT.

OUR WEATHER IN THE MOUNTAINS IS EXTREME, THE SEASONS CHANGE DRAMATICALLY, STIFLING HEAT, BLAZING SUN UP TO 40 DEGS IN THE SUMMER AND FREEZING TEMPERATURES CAN DROP TO - 21 DURING THE WINTER FREEZE. PROTECTION IS OF THE UPMOST IMPORTANCE.

The roof we managed to erect before winter has changed living conditions at the shelter, a remarkable and noted difference so we are now READY weather permitting to start asap on the second side.
We would also love to be able to cover the two food stations in the shelter at the moment we can not store food there due to the weather, rain/snow melt/sun.

If we can raise a little extra it would make a huge difference. We would also like to build a substantial shade and warm shelter for the sheep dogs who live outside the shelter. They are very loyal dogs who protect the shelter and will stay by my side when the dark nights fall. It would be wonderful if we could give them the gift of a safe, warm & shaded area as a thank you 💖
